Meet and Greets for Young Voices (K and grade 1), Melodia (grades 2-3) and Mosaic Singers (grades 4-6)

The Meet and Greet is an opportunity for singers and directors to meet, and for returning singers to touch base year after year with their director. This one-on-one meeting helps the director to know the individual strengths and areas to work on for each singer. The voice placement will consist of two main components: vocal range and aural skill. The director will lead the child in vocal exercises that explore the range and pitch matching ability of the singer. This is a short meeting (generally less than 10 minutes), painless, and even fun! Nothing needs to be prepared specifically for the audition, but if the singer wishes to sing something the director will be happy to hear it.

Auditions for Youth Chorus (grades 7-12)

The Youth Chorus voice placement will consist of two main components: vocal range/agility and aural skill. The director will hear scales and vocal exercises that explore the range, vocal agility and tone color of the singer. A series of melodies will be played on the piano and echoed by the singer. The audition is short (generally less than 10 minutes), painless, and even fun! Nothing needs to be prepared specifically for the audition, but if the singer wishes to sing something the director will be happy to hear it.

Auditions for Mandala, treble singers (grades 7-12)

Mandala is an audition-based ensemble for treble singers. The audition will consist of checking vocal range/agility, aural skill, and sight-reading. The director will hear scales and vocal exercises that explore the range, vocal agility and tone color of the singer. A series of melodies will be played on the piano and echoed by the singer. A short printed excerpt will be given to the singer to interpret. The audition is short (generally less than 10 minutes), painless, and even fun! Nothing needs to be prepared specifically for the audition, but if the singer wishes to sing something the director will be happy to hear it.
